British weightlifter Zoe Smith set a personal best in the women?s 58kg category and a British record in the clean and jerk section with a lift of 121kg. Zoe Smith lifted a British record in the clean and jerk section (Picture: Reuters) The lift helped her to a total of 211kg, having also completed a 90kg lift in the snatch, putting the 18-year-old in a strong position for a top 10 finish at London 2012. Smith finished second in Group B, behind Ecuador?s Maria Alexandra Escobar who posted a total lift of 226kg. With 11 competitors still to go in Group A, Smith only has an outside chance of a medal. The British teenager, who hails from Greenwich, won bronze in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, in what was her first senior international competition, where she lifted 85kg in the snatch and 103kg in the clean and jerk.
