Imagine your best eCommerce presence - Toshiba Telephone ...

EYEMAGINE can make it happen.

When notable brands such as HP, TOYOTA and Disney want an eCommerce presence that attracts and engages visitors, offers a rich user experience, and converts casual visitors into loyal customers, they turn to EYEMAGINE.? So do boutique brands that want to compete on a par with bigger players through effective online storefronts and mobile apps.

For nearly a decade, the Irvine, Calif.-based eCommerce consulting firm has been helping businesses succeed in online and mobile marketing with services from user experience design to application development, systems integration and hosting, search engine optimization, testing and analysis, and more.

?If you can EYEMAGINE it, we can build it!?

As an innovator in the high-tech world of online and mobile commerce, it wouldn?t do for EYEMAGINE to have an outdated business communications system.? In fact, it really wouldn?t do for them to have anything but the latest in IP technology.

That?s why smplsolutions of Lake Forest, Calif. (an Authorized Toshiba Dealer since 2001) recommended Toshiba?s IPedge? EP IP business telephone system.? Capable of serving up to 40 users, it?s the small-business edition of Toshiba?s 200-user and 1,000-user IPedge platforms.? One compact server, about the size of a phone book, supports call processing, voice mail and unified messaging, user control over features, mobility, central system administration and optional unified communications.? The server comes packed with all these features right out of the box.

?We live and breathe technology, and innovation is the heart of our operation.?

The EYEMAGINE mission is to use technology wisely to create a quality user experience for its clients, no matter how big or small.? The firm expected no less from its communications system.

With IPedge EP, the EYEMAGINE team gained the ability to manage voice mail and email messages from their PCs or telephones, program their own speed-dial and feature buttons, and personalize functions such as Do Not Disturb and Find me/Follow Me.? They can check the status of colleagues and see who?s on the phone, away or not taking calls.

With Automated Attendant, all incoming calls are answered with greetings tailored for the time of day.? Clients can get direct access to the person they want to reach without going through a receptionist.? Employees can manage multiple lines while receiving important voicemails via email.? Adding remote users or temporary team members is as easy as adding IP phones.

As the firm grows, the 40-user IPedge EP server can network with other Toshiba IPedge or Strata CIX systems to serve hundreds or even thousands of users.

?A well-designed, engineered, and tested online presence will inevitably attract valuable customers, clients, and conversions.?

The same is true of a well-designed, engineered and tested business communications system.? If that sounds good, consider an IPedge EP system in your shopping cart.

Former Webster University women's soccer player discusses effects ...

As a student athlete at Webster, Kelly Strecker played soccer for the Gorloks for four years. When Strecker played soccer for the Gorloks, she suffered two concussions ? one in 2005 and one in 2006 ? but considers herself lucky. She said she doesn?t have any post-concussion symptoms.

?Fortunately, I have no recurring issues from them,? Strecker said. ?I guess if I still played soccer, I would be a little nervous to head the ball or go up because it could happen again, so I?m a little more cautious when it comes to that.?

Kelly Strecker during her senior year (2008) on the women's soccer team

Strecker graduated in 2009 and now works for a public relations and marketing agency in Clayton.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), ?Most people with a concussion recover quickly and fully. But for some people, symptoms can last for days, weeks, or longer. In general, recovery may be slower among older adults, young children and teens. Those who have had a concussion in the past are also at risk of having another one and may find that it takes longer to recover if they have another concussion. Symptoms of concussion usually fall into four categories: thinking and remembering, physical, emotional/mood and sleep.?

Strecker said she had one other mild concussion as a child while playing basketball, but she hasn?t had any other concussions or symptoms since she played soccer at Webster.

The NCAA?s Injury Surveillance Program estimates 1.6 to 3.8 million concussions occur in sports and recreation-related activities every year. The NCAA also found all fall sports in 2011 ? including soccer, field hockey and volleyball ? mirrored the football findings, with 1.9 concussions reported for every 1,000 exposures.

Strecker said she suffered one of her concussions during a game.

?I went up for a head ball with another girl and we hit heads,? Strecker said. ?I went down and felt dizzy, and it was awful. I felt like I was going to vomit, and then came off the field. I?m pretty sure I took off about a week and didn?t play any games just to make sure everything was OK, and got rest.?

The NCAA recommends that if someone takes a blow to the head, they don?t hide it but take it seriously. The athlete should tell the athletic trainer and coach to get checked out. They also suggest to take time to recover, because the brain needs time to heal. People are more likely to have a repeat concussion if they don?t fully recover from the first one.

Strecker said that while her concussions weren?t severe, they still had to take precautions with her.

?They (Webster athletic department) did the eye check test to make sure everything was OK and I think the first night I had to be woken up a couple times, so I didn?t sleep all the way through the night. They checked me out the next couple days, but (it was) nothing to where I had to go to the hospital.?

A Guide to In-Store Customer Experience Enhancement | Eagle Mat ...

A Guide to In Store customer Experience Enhancement 300x287 A Guide to In Store Customer Experience EnhancementWith the digitization of our world, customer opinion can greatly affect the credibility of any business.? Customer can build or break the reputation of a company with a simple review on Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, or any number of local business review sites. Products and prices has become only a part of the overall experience of customers.

Enhancing the customer experience has now become a priority for businesses because the marketplace has now changed.? It is important to engage customers in a positive way, carefully considering how they feel while they are in the store. ?Building customer relationships should be the priority behind customer experience enhancement.?? Focusing on improving company public perceptions via enriching customer experience on a one on one basis will increase revenue and forge loyalty.

Put Your Best Foot Forward

When dealing with clients, personable customer service should always take precedence.? Sales representatives, front-desk personnel, customer service representatives, and members of the staff who interact with clients in a regular basis should always represent professionalism.? They must actively pursue a positive image for the company by ensuring a positive customer experience.

Connecting and maintaining relationships with customers should be the priority.? The business-client relationship does not start and end at the point of sale.? Establishing a positive customer experience from the outset can help effectively forge these relationships.? According to Business Week?s Jeneanne Rae, ?Building great consumer experiences is a complex enterprise, involving strategy, integration of technology, orchestrating business models, brand management and CEO commitment.? (i)

Essentially, businesses are encouraged to expend some of their resources devoted to study consumer patterns.?? Using analytics, companies distinguish the parts that they do well and aspects that need improvement.

Why Enhance Customer Experience?

Enhancing customer experience might sound like an overwhelming process, but there are a host of intangible positive effects, aside from increase in revenue, that make it a worthwhile pursuit.? When employees provide excellent service to customers, they also receive positive affirmation in the process.?? The positive customer experience motivates staff and encourages them to replicate the same result in every interaction.

In-store experiences that focus on client happiness and satisfaction elevates a company?s reputation that no amount of marketing can replace.? Marketing does not make respect, service, and care tangible.? People are the ones who care for other people.? With shopping ever more associated with feelings, it is important that clients feel a human connection with their suppliers.? Treating customers graciously makes them feel valued.? Respecting their needs acknowledges that their patronage is important.

In short, customer experience enhancement is a very human affair, which relies on improving relationships and creating connections.

Enhancing Customer Experience: It?s all in the Details

While most business research tout that customer experience is spread over a series of platforms, which include social media, online interface, etc., the most visceral and impactful of these experiences are the ones associated with in-store interactions.?? Our society might be pushing for virtual exchanges these days, but we still consider our most important experiences to be sensory in nature.

We base our opinions from conscious and unconscious cues from our surroundings.? Businesses must remember that their facilities must always present them in the best light.? The general appearance of a store is a valuable facet of the customer experience.?? Visitors should encounter safe and sanitary conditions in order to make the most of their time at a store.? Sometimes investing in something like adequate floor covering can sometimes be the difference that separates two nearly identical stores.

For example, compare these two nearly identical food service restaurant businesses. ??The first takes care to have floor mats in their kitchens that discourage the proliferation of microbes and germs.? They use effective kitchen mats that absorbs moisture and can be easily drained.?? Using this effective tool to promote sanitary conditions in the kitchen, the business enhances the customers experience by assuring them that the food they purchased was cooked in a clean and safe environment.

On the other hand, the other restaurant does not prioritize nearly as much on floor coverings as the former.? While their food might not be poisonous, it can be argued that they do not care about proper sanitation and safety in their food preparation.? After noticing that their floors are dirty, moist, and full of litter, the consumer, out of fear, refuses to patronize their business, and takes his custom to their competitor.

Tiny details ?even things such as floor mats ? matter .? Presentation matters.? How customers feel matter.? Take the time to know your customer, and make them feel that they are important to your business.

Polar ice melt accelerates (+video)

The Earth's ice sheets are melting three times faster than they were two decades ago, 47 researchers say in a recently published study. The scientists fault human-created global warming for the dramatic increase in melting.

By Seth Borenstein,?Associated Press / November 29, 2012

Fueled by global warming,?polar?ice?sheets in Greenland and Antarctica are now melting three times faster than they did in the 1990s, a new scientific study says.

' + google_ads[0].line2 + '
' + google_ads[0].line3 + '

'; } else if (google_ads.length > 1) { ad_unit += ''; } } document.getElementById("ad_unit").innerHTML += ad_unit; google_adnum += google_ads.length; return; } var google_adnum = 0; google_ad_client = "pub-6743622525202572"; google_ad_output = 'js'; google_max_num_ads = '1'; google_feedback = "on"; google_ad_type = "text"; google_adtest = "on"; google_image_size = '230x105'; google_skip = '0'; // -->

So far, that's only added about half an inch (1.3 centimeters) to rising sea levels, not as bad as some earlier worst case scenarios. But the melting's quicker pace, especially in Greenland, has?ice?scientists worried.

One of the biggest wild cards in climate change has been figuring out how much the melting of the massive sheets of?ice?at the two poles would add to the seas. Until now, researchers haven't agreed on how fast the mile-thick sheets are thawing ? and if Antarctica was even losing?ice.

The new research concludes that Antarctica is melting, but points to the smaller?ice?sheet in Greenland, which covers most of the island, as the bigger and more pressing issue. Its melt rate has grown from about 55 billion tons a year in the 1990s to almost 290 billion tons a year recently, according to the study.

"Greenland is really taking off," said National Snow and?Ice?Data Center scientist Ted Scambos, a co-author of the paper released Thursday by the journal Science.

Study lead author Andrew Shepherd of the University of Leeds in England, said their results provide a message for negotiators in Doha, Qatar, who are working on an international agreement to fight global warming: "It's very clear now that Greenland is a problem."

Scientists blame man-made global warming for the melting. Burning fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, emits carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that trap heat, warming the atmosphere and oceans. Bit-by-bit, that erodes the?ice?sheets from above and below. Snowfall replenishes the?ice?sheets, but hasn't kept pace with the rate of melting.

Because the world's oceans are so big, it takes a lot of?ice?melting ? about 10 trillion tons ? to raise sea levels 1 inch (2.5 centimeters). Since 1992,?ice?sheets at the poles have lost nearly 5 trillion tons of?ice, the study says, raising sea levels by about a half inch.

That seemingly tiny extra bit probably worsened the flooding from an already devastating Superstorm Sandy last month, said NASA?ice?scientist Erik Ivins, another co-author of the study. He said the extra weight gives each wave a little more energy.

(AP) ? Small, crisis-hit Slovenia is choosing a president on Sunday amid growing discontent with cost-cutting measures designed to avoid an international bailout.

The vote comes just days after anti-austerity protests in the capital erupted in clashes that left 15 people injured, triggering fears that the economic crisis could push the normally placid Alpine nation of 2 million into instability.

Developments in Slovenia are being closely watched in the European Union. The tiny eurozone nation has promised to follow through with budget cuts and banking changes so it won't have to ask for EU help.

The presidential runoff pits anti-austerity incumbent Danilo Turk against former Prime Minister Borut Pahor, who has supported some of the government's budget measures during his campaign. Pahor won more votes in the first round last month and is the front-runner in polls.

Although the presidency is a largely ceremonial post in Slovenia, the elected leader commands political authority and will play an important role in guiding Slovenes as the country faces painful reforms.

Worried Slovenes said they hoped the election would bring a sense of security.

"I think things will start to calm down from today," said 86-year-old retiree Mihael Grund, who ventured out early despite drizzle and cold to cast his ballot. "We have had so much tension recently and that is a big worry for us."

But, new protests are planned for next week. Thousands joined demonstrations in Ljubljana on Friday and in the second-largest city of Maribor earlier in the week. Both rallies ended in riots, with police using water cannons and tear gas to repel rock-throwing extremists.

Senior police official Stanislav Venger said on Saturday police was attacked by organized groups of hooligans who were prepared to fight ? unusual for Slovenia where demonstrations are usually calm and smaller in number.

Slovenia, which was once an economic star among EU newcomers when it joined in 2004, has faced one of the worst recessions of the 17 nations that use the euro currency. Its economy has shrunk more than 8 percent since 2009 and continues to decline, resulting in a sharp drop in exports and living standards and a surge in unemployment, which now stands at about 12 percent.

Prime Minister Janez Jansa's center-right government has launched pension and labor reform, made public sector cuts, and moved to recapitalize the nation's banks, which are at the center of the crisis because they are burdened by bad loans.

Pahor has called for unity in the face of the crisis, promising to "bring hope" to disillusioned Slovenes and show the EU that the country can pull out of the crisis on its own.

Turk, however, has been a fierce critic of the reform plans. He has argued that Jansa's cost-cutting has not been equally distributed and will only hurt the poorest, eliminating the long-cherished welfare state.

Analysts have warned that the turnout among Slovenia's 1,7 million voters could be low, in another sign of voters' discontent. Some Slovenes, like 35-year-old high-school teacher Igor Vulic, say that no politician can bring about any change and that Slovenia needs new leaders.

"They should just all go," he said.
