Oklahoma City drag boat race event to feature Salute to the Troops

Oklahoma's post 9/11 veterans will be honored at the 2012 Ozarka-Riverwind OKC Nationals drag boat races June 8-10 on the Oklahoma River.

Salute to the Troops will be presented June 9 by the Chickasaw Nation.

Retired and active troops who served since Sept. 11, 2001, will be given complimentary admission.

They are asked to register in advance at www.kfor.com/okcnationals and to present their military ID card at the race to receive their passes.

Each service member will receive two complimentary passes. Children age 12 and younger will be admitted at no cost. Free parking will be available for troops and their families.

?On behalf of all the men and women of the Oklahoma National Guard, I would like to express how honored we are to be recognized by our fellow citizens at this year's OKC Nationals drag boat races,? Maj. Gen. Myles Deering said in a news release. ?I know many of our soldiers and airmen will greatly appreciate this special day along the Oklahoma River with family and friends watching the tremendous action and competition.?
