BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)- It's the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Nearly 44,000 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year. Dozens of people gathered at UAB for the purple light vigil to raise awareness and honor those battling pancreatic cancer. For every 100 people diagnosed only 6 will survive after 5 years.
